About the Role
The Company is seeking a Director of Major Gifts for the Mid-Atlantic region. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of essential job functions, including directly soliciting and closing gifts from major prospects, maintaining donor relationships, and coordinating fundraising events to raise awareness and contributions. This role requires a seasoned fundraiser with a minimum of 5 years of experience in direct major gift fundraising, a Bachelor's degree, and a deep understanding of the Jewish philanthropic landscape and, preferably, of Israel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in donor cultivation and solicitation, the ability to command a room of high-wealth individuals and experience in planning large fundraising events. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The Director of Major Gifts will be expected to create and lead engagement and cultivation strategies, manage a personal portfolio of major donors, and work to foster five and six-figure gifts to meet area goals. The role also involves frequent local and regional travel, so dependability and good time management are crucial. The candidate should be a self-starter, capable of proactively engaging with donors, and be adept at working under tight deadlines. Experience with donor database programs, particularly Raisers Edge, is preferred. The position offers the opportunity to be part of critical, meaningful work and to build upon the momentum of a fast-growing nonprofit organization.
